In the Westfjords winter is king. We love getting out in the snow and even though the days are short we certainly try to make the most of them with skiing, enjoying nature and then inside having a hot drink to warm up.
What to expect
January like other winter months can vary quite a lot when it comes to weather. I can be packed with snow with some days the roads closing or it can be mostly rain and wet. January in the Westfjords has about 3 daylight hours per day so keep that in mind when putting together your schedule.

- Rainproof/windproof jacket
- Fleexe jacket/lightweigt wool sweater
- Rain pants/snow pants
- Sturdy walking shoes with a good grip
- Gloves, hats and scarves
- Swimsuit
- Thermal underwear
- Waterproof hiking boots
- Warm socks
