What’s On in the Westfjords: Late June & July 2025

Summer in the Westfjords is all about long days, local festivals, and plenty of reasons to spend time outdoors. From bike races and music concerts to art shows and village celebrations, there’s something happening almost every week. If you’ll be visiting between June 26 and July 31, 2025, here are some great events to check out.

Götuveislan (Street Festival) at Flateyri

June 27–29 – Celebration runs from Thursday evening through Saturday, marking the event’s 25th anniversary. Expect live music, food stalls, games, a street market, frisbee golf, dancing, and more—fun and free for the whole community 

2025 Arna Westfjords Way Challenge

June 30 – July 6 – A four-stage gravel bike ultra-race across the region, starting and ending in Ísafjörður, with scenic and cultural checkpoints like hot pots, museums, and farms .

Dýrfirsku vísna- og ljóðaskáldin

July 3, 19:30 – Folk song and poetry celebration at the community house in Thingeyri .

Arctic Mirage – Echo from the North

July 4 – An outdoor film screening with live music accompaniment .

Ágúst og Færibandið Live at Vagninn

July 5 – Live concert in the intimate setting of the Vagninn stage .

Chess Nights – Every Tuesday in July

Weekly casual tournaments hosted by the Westfjords Chess Club in Ísafjörður

Miðvikufjör Concert Series

July 10 & July 24 at 14:00 – Free garden concerts in Ísafjörður. July 10 features Katla Vigdís; July 24 features Keli .

Dýrafjarðardagar Festival

July 11–13 – A weekend of music, culture, food, and community events in Thingeyri & Dýrafjörður .

Guðmundur Gíslason Chess Tournament

July 12 – Competitive chess event in Ísafjörður honoring the local grandmaster .

“Dead Air” – Performing Arts Premiere

July 12 – New performance debut in Ísafjörður .

Hlaupahátíð (Running Festival)

July 18–19 – Regional running festival offering scenic routes around the Westfjords .

Fræbblarnir Live at Vagninn

July 18 – Performance by the band Fræbblarnir at Vagninn .

Með Hjartanu – Family Festival

July 25–27 – Family-focused weekend of crafts, games, and music at Raggagarður in Súðavík .

Maraþonmennirnir á Silfurtorgi

Live pop-up music series in Ísafjörður main square on July 10, 17, 20, 23, 26, and 30

The Factory – “Sky Dancers” Exhibition

Through summer in Djúpavík’s old herring factory—aurora-inspired art installations open daily, free to visit .
