Bolafjall Road Closed for Vehicle Traffic

The road up to the Outstanding Bolafjall viewing platform is now closed to vehicle traffic for the season.

Perched high above the ocean and surrounding fjords, Bolafjall offers one of the most dramatic viewpoints in the Westfjords. As autumn gives way to winter, conditions on the mountain road become increasingly unpredictable, and the road is therefore closed to vehicles until conditions allow it to reopen next year.

The mountain itself is still accessible on foot, and visitors can hike up to the viewing platform. Anyone heading up should, however, come well prepared for changing weather and winter conditions.

For now, cars stay below — but those willing to make the climb can still experience the remarkable views from the top of Bolafjall.
