Total Solar Eclipse 2026: Educational Meeting for Residents

Stjörnu-Sævar, Visit Westfjords and Ísafjarðarbær invite residents to an educational meeting about the total solar eclipse.

On Friday, May 8, from 18:00–19:00, an open informational meeting will be held for residents of the Westfjords in Bryggjusalurinn at Edinborgarhúsið. The meeting will focus on the total solar eclipse that will be visible on August 12, 2026.

At the meeting, Sævar Helgi Bragason, better known as Stjörnu-Sævar, will discuss this unique natural phenomenon, what happens during a total solar eclipse, how to observe it safely, and what residents should keep in mind.

The meeting is a good opportunity for residents to learn more, ask questions, and prepare for this unique event.
