The Basque band Kalekantoi will have concerts at several locations in the Westfjords in the coming days. The first concert will be at be at the Basque Centre in Djúpavík on August 12 at 21:00. On August 14 at 15:30 they will be in Ögur on the 16th at 17:00 in the Edinborgarhús in Ísafjörður, and on August 17 at 20:00 at the Comedy Theatre in Haukadalur in Dýrafjörður. It is a family that forms the band, a father and his three daughters, and they play traditional Basque music on a variety of traditional Basque instruments such as Trikiti, Dultzaina, Alboka, and more. At the concert, the Basque Imanol Mendi will introduce the different instruments that will be played and present and talk about Basque music as well as the background of some of the songs.
