Geothermal Pools

In Drangsnes, and Kaldrananeshreppur municipality in general, there is geothermal activity and therefore hot water flowing from underneath. In Laugarhóll in Bjarnarfjörður there is a swimming pool which is heated up by goethermal hot water and right next to the pool there is the natural hot tub Gvendarlaug. The swimming pool in Drangsnes is also heated up by the geothermal hot water. Near the center of the village of Drangsnes, at the shore, there are three hot tubs, filled with water. Those hot tubs are for all the guests of Drangsnes, free of charge. Guests are only advised to take a shower before they enter the hot tubs.

Drangsnes Hot Pots

The hot natural pools in Drangsnes are right along the shoreline in the middle of the village easily spotted from the road.

The pots are used throughout the year by locals and visitors. Even after a new swimming pool was built in town the attraction of the hot natural pot has yet to decrease.

The best way to meet the local and talk about everything and nothing is in the hot pots in Drangsnes.
